Timuchin Afandiyev is an Azerbaijani literary and art critic, a member of the Azerbaijan Writers' Union, the Azerbaijan Artists' Union, the Azerbaijan Theatre Workers' Union, Doctor of Philological Sciences, Professor, Honored Art Worker of the Azerbaijan Republic, Honored Scientist of the Azerbaijan Republic, Rector of the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts (1987-2014), Rector of the Baku Choreography Academy (from 2014-2021).
